Rock that Autumn Attire!!

I have to say, October is probably my favourite month of the year. Yes, I love the spring and summer but I adore the fall and October in particular. Why? Well, it’s the best month to wear fall clothes! I’m talking sweaters, ponchos, turtlenecks, warm wool skirts and dresses. Of course, you would add your fall boots and you are in business!! Not only that, it doesn’t really matter which era you are in, as every decade had that combo for women’s fashion. In the 70s the fall tam was added and in the 50s and 60s everyone wore a hat … and for us vintage lovers, fall is the perfect time to wear a hat!

So let’s take a look at your wardrobe. We all have jeans and sweaters but what if we want to look amazing just for the sake of it? Do you have a turtleneck sweater? These are basic to every wardrobe. How about that skirt? Or maybe a warm tunic dress as shown in the picture? If not, take a look at what vintage has to offer. You could choose a mini skirt with tights or a maxi (tights optional) and you will get a very nice high quality vintage skirt that is in perfect condition, has history, and looks great for any occasion. Personally, I like a mini skirt with tights to match my turtleneck. I remember, as a child, the image of Nancy Sinatra in a matching sweater, tights and mini skirt on her album cover. I just loved it!!

The great thing is that once you have your basic outfit just add a poncho or button up sweater. Both found in vintage shops around the country. Pop on those boots (made for walking, of course) and you’re ready to go. This is why I love the fall. Can’t you just see this look ... it’s classic. It is comfortable. It’s warm. And it transcends the ages.

Don’t miss out on the most fun time of the year for fashion. Grab those vintage skirts, dresses, sweaters and ponchos and head out for a crisp walk and enjoy those fall colours.
